About

Long ago in a far away land, companies marketed themselves with ease. All they had to do was announce their services to the world–and let magic do the rest.

Exit magic. Enter ROI, deliverability, and Excel pivot tables. How do you measure a lost opportunity?

Prospects have stopped reading. They don’t even watch. Soon after your 58th brochure, you started recycling. Stopped reading websites, started scanning. Unsubscribed to the newsletter, deleted the e-mail. Turned the page, threw away the letter.

Enter Copylicious. I specialize in copy that gets read. Letters get opened. Emails get forwarded. Websites spark action.  Newsletters get printed and taped to foreheads.

The result? Engaged, educated, obsessed customers. It’s the next-best thing to a time machine.

But don’t take my word for it. Have a bite.

About Copylicious

About Kelly Parkinson

Kelly Parkinson

I help growing companies and consultants sound human again so they can connect with more clients.

Because I practice the ancient art of listening, I can create marketing communications your prospects want to read. You can:

If you’re looking for a copywriter to disappear into a magical underground world and reappear with a draft that hypnotizes your audience into taking action, I’m not the one for you.

My approach is a bit different. I like to involve you in the process from the beginning and throughout the project. Your feedback is important. And getting your voice just right means the difference between manipulative copy and copy that really resonates with your best clients.

I‘m a copywriter/collaborator. That means I ask thoughtful questions and listen closely while guiding you through the branding, positioning, and messaging process. Then, I help give voice to your brand. You don’t have to stop speaking and thinking geek to sound human–and neither does your copy. I help you strike the right balance.

My professional writing experience spans more than 10 years, including gigs in journalism, marketing communications, technical writing, medical & health writing, and copywriting. Two years as a medical writer taught me how to write for patients and healthcare professionals, and that “that” can usually be deleted. A combined five years as an in-house marketing communications consultant for start-up to medium-sized companies taught me how to think like the client.

A former Peace Corps volunteer and EFL teacher in Guinea, West Africa, I have a BA in English Literature from the University of California, Santa Barbara. I live in Oakland with my 80-pound running partner, Harley.
